Gurowake 4,021 Posted December 16 On that image with Terunofuji on it, the writing on the top left I was very confused about, as it makes no sense when read left to right, then top to bottom. I eventually realized that's because it's written top to bottom, then right to left, as is traditional in Japanese, despite all the other writing on the image going with the other pattern. I think it's the vertical and horizontal spacing which draws my attention to this writing style now that I've read many examples. Compare it to the smaller text immediately below - not only are the characters "justified" horizontally, they are much closer to each one below and above.
