Akinomaki 40,222 Posted December 28, 2024 Next at the 13th NikkanSp Ozumo Grand Awards: kensho 46 bouts this year with a million Yen in hand: a pack of 34 kensho envelopes, containing 30 000 Yen each (another 30 000 for later/taxes) Abi had 2 of these bouts and won them both, to get the "1000 gold coins with one grab" award. Also Takayasu, Takanosho and Shodai managed this - Abi stands out with the speed in which he got that: 7s combined for these 2 bouts, 105 kensho - 3.15 million yen - 450 000 yen per second. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202412250000376.html On 25/12/2024 at 09:21, Akinomaki said: The speedster award: 4.46s average time for a win - with 2nd most of the year, 15 more than no.2 Abi with 4.76s average, and also top for bouts in general: 4.6s average in 88 bouts, Abi with 5.06 in 87. Shodai is surprisingly high up in the rankings here. 420 kensho this year for him: about 2874 yen cash per second for his time fighting on the dohyo On the other side, the kensho one didn't get - the top 5 of missed kensho opportunities Kotozakura missed out on 739 kensho (but he got 1503 this year), 2nd Kirishima with 600 not (and only got 484), Hoshoryu (598/973) Atamifuji (554/406), Tobizaru (526/283) o - Oshoma should be not far away - he only got 205 kensho and had quite a lot on his bouts Kotozakura also had the most million yen bouts, 22, and he won 12 of them - actually he should get the grab the gold award, but that emphasises the winning percentage of these bouts.
