That's 19 Yusho, which if stacked together stretches to just over 3 years of basho.  I checked for retired winners during that time (since Jan 2022).  Terunofuji won 4 times, Takakeisho won twice, and one other sekitori won a Yusho.  Guess who? (I was surprised!)

For the first 14 days of this basho he was sole leader of this chart with 3 yusho, maybe an all-time (low) record.

I think it was same for Nagoya 1992 when Konishiki was the only rikishi with 3 yusho.

Thanks for that post! I was surprised at some f the names and numbers, eventhough I watched at least the highlights of all of those bashos. I'd forgotten that Abi had won a ysho... Gomen nasai!

Looking forward to Yokozuna Mitakeumi and Onosato being challenged by Ozeki Tamawashi, Kirishima, and Hoshoryu in the upcoming tournament. And the up-and-coming yusho winners like Asanoyama can aim for the upper ranks.

Seriously though, highest career ranks of the 12 active yusho winners: 1 Yokozuna (current), 6 Ozeki (2 current), 4 Sekiwake (1 current), 1 Maegashira.
