Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted Monday at 18:07 (edited) Hello, now this was fast - all games have made their final standings public, so I could create the final standings of the Haru 2025 Masters Series. Here is the basho report: The Haru Masters were as stormy as the dohyo events, with lots of unforeseen results. This also shows off in the winner's parade. For example, Wamahada never even won a Masters sansho, but stars aligned nicely for him, granting him three game yusho (Hoshitori Game, Norizo Cup, RotoSumo) and his first ever Green Mawashi with 53.25 points. Until the Hoshitori results were in, it looked like a low-scoring 42 points Green Mawashi for Beeftank. While this did not pan out, Beeftank won his first ever game yusho (Quad) and his first-ever Masters sansho (gino-sho, as he also was strong in the pre-basho scene (10 points in Norizo Cup). The shukun-sho also goes to someone who has not featured in Masters reports yet: reeeen (with finishing three games in double digits). The only really familiar face in the report is that of ScreechingOwl. With eight finishes in the Top 10, he receives his third career kanto-sho. Congratulation to all the winners! Other news: Lots of first-time yusho winners in individual games: CaptSmarta$$ won his first game yusho ever (ISP), same as Isokiho (GTB). Wamahada's three yusho (Hoshitori Game, Norizo Cup, RotoSumo) were first-time yusho in those games, same as for Miruto (Paper Oyakata), Kobashi (Juryo Game), Kachikoshi (Toto), Hisui (Oracle), Kakushoyama (Odd), and Beeftank (Quad). However, game veterans also had their share. Gonzaburow already secured an 8th UDH title and now is the sole record holder in this game. Flohru was already having the most Bench Makuuchi yusho in history (7), but extended his record with an 8th title. And Achiyama joins a list of three other players (Susanoo, Ganzohnesushi, Kitakachiyama) with the largest number of TTT yusho (4). Other repeat offenders (without setting records yet) were Kitakachiyama (5th Sumo Game Makuuchi yusho), Choshu-yuki (5th Chaingang yusho), and Asashosakari (3rd SCS yusho). Also updated: the World Championship Standings. As a sign of the low predictability of sumo this year so far, the current Top 10 feature only two players who managed a Top-10 finish in 2024. With his Green Mawashi, Wamahada takes over the lead for the year, but he has seasoned top gamer Susanoo right on his heelds. It's nice to see some great up-and-comers in the Top 10 (Oortael, Beeftank, Bunbukuchagama, Hisui). Edited Monday at 18:27 by Randomitsuki
