QttP 0 Posted January 13, 2005 I have absolutely no experience whatsoever with video encoding, editing, etc. It would be a good thing to learn, but right now I just want to ask what seems to me a simple question. Hopefully there is a simple answer. Allright, so I have recorded a few videos of myself playing a computer game. I maybe want to share them on the internet, but to avoid plagiarism, I'd like to stick a simple writing, something like "Recorded by QttP" in one of the corners of each frame. The videos are fairly short: 10-60 seconds each. I have them encoded in Microsoft RLE format from some reason, but can re-encode them, if necessary. What program can I use to do this thing and how? Thanks in advance.
Naifuzan 1 Posted January 13, 2005 I've used Adobe Premiere to do such things in the past. I can't remember exactly how you do it, but it's pretty easy to figure out I think.
QttP 0 Posted January 13, 2005 It just so happens that I have Adobe Premiere, but I'm kinda lost with the interface. But if you say that it's possible with that program, I'll keep on looking, maybe I'll find something. Thanks. Additional suggestions are always welcome. Asysanyama 0 Posted January 13, 2005 Ejem, ejem, I'll try not to extend too much, cof, cof. I suggest you to use a FREE and OPEN program (Sign of approval) for Windows env. made by a young boy (at High then) some 5-6 years ago, and it is soooo good, people use it around all the world and compare favorably against Adobe Premiere :-/ , specially 'cause of the easy interface :-) . The program is VIRTUALDUB and actually goes version 1.5.10 (stable) and v1.6.3 (experimental) as of today. If you want to generate an AVI contained movie AND use some of the best modern CODECS around (e.g. DivX 5.1; xviD 1.0) which yields a 90 minutes, DVD quality movie in the space of a CD-R disk (700 MB), then, there is no other "OPEN License" option to use. (Shaking head...) If you prefer to generate some MPEG-2 streams, then I recommend you to use the Tsunami (sorry 'cause of this days fatality) MPEG Encoder e.g. TMPGENC, a free demo program with limited MPEG-2 encoding function because it's free, but the PLUS version can be purchased at PEGASYS for only $37 for the TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 version. They also sell an authoring program, in case you wanna make your own DVD's completes with menus, submenus, etc. I've been digitazing videos from analog media since 4 to 5 years ago and if you are interested in using one of this programs, send me a PM and I'll try this weekend to send you A LOT of URL's which explains the use and capabilities of this software. QttP 0 Posted January 13, 2005 It just so happens that I have VirtualDub too. Can it do the stuff that I asked for in the first post of this thread?
Asysanyama 0 Posted January 14, 2005 OK, all you need is ... ADD a filter FILTERS in virtualdub allows you to CHANGE some ATTRIBUTE of the input video and APPLY some effects or ADD some information (in your case, I suppose a LOGO with your name). Open the menu VIDEO and select the first one "Filters" and a new window with empty content shows which allows you to select a FILTER pressing the button ADD, as I have added the one to change the excesive brightness/constrast in the input video, the other one, and I think the one you need is: LOGO, you have to go to this page, download the ZIP file, decompress the actual filter in a suitable directory (e.g. \VDub\Filters), and LOAD it pressing the button in the ADD FILTER dialog window. I have allowed myself to use your to avatar to show you an example of the application of this filter, as you can see in the OUTPUT window (the one at the right), the contrast has been reduced quite a bit AND a small bitmap with your AVATAR and your nick, appears with a 192/255 alpha blending and using a blue color as Trasparency, in the left superior corner. Wish you have better luck than Taikai, and I hope I've been a bit useful to you!
QttP 0 Posted January 14, 2005 You've been super helpful! That's exactly what I needed. It took me a while to figure out exactly what to do, but in the end I used VirtualDub's "Job Control" to process all 60 files in batch in a matter of a few minutes. Huge thanks to you, Asysanyama! Now I just need to find a place to host almost 200MB of videos. Is anybody interested in a complete walkthrough of Skyroads?
