Jejima 1,385 Posted January 15, 2005 Shoes-on -Kotoryuu.. This is why we watch Sumo. this is why we waste so much time on the two guys with nappies.. THIS.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great match! It either showed Shuzan's lack of extra oomph when it matters, or Kotoryu's great will-power, strength and determination not to give up. A stronger foe for Kotoryu, or less determined foe for Shuzan, and this bout would have been over a lot quicker.
Asashosakari 19,331 Posted January 15, 2005 I can't say that it was an especially pretty bout, but an EXCELLENT example of fighting spirit. More of that, please. :-D
Araiguma_Rascal 0 Posted January 15, 2005 (edited) (Hugging...) Great match! :-D Kyokushuzan doesn't have great power, but he does have great technique, and he was persistant, earning a hard-fought victory. Best bout of the tournament so far. I also liked Ama's victory today. It's nice to see a little guy win with a strong throw. Edited January 15, 2005 by Araiguma_Rascal
Kashunowaka 300 Posted January 15, 2005 It would have been, if Kotoryu had won after being forced to the edge four times!
Araiwa 0 Posted January 15, 2005 Great spirited bout by Kotoryu! I was really sad to see Kotoryu losing in the end, but a hard earned victory for Kyokushuzan. There was another bout like thisa from Kotoryu some basho ago, I think his opponent was also Shuzan but I'm not sure. There he also resisted many yorikiris until he lost. Jakusotsu 5,969 Posted January 15, 2005 I was a bit angry with Kotoryu and his habit to turn away from his opponent. I think his intention is to gather momentum and a good position for a throw, but in this bout it failed twice and put him into a bad position. Great bout though, I agree! And Ama against Shimotori was just sweet.

Naifuzan 1 Posted January 15, 2005 I remember a couple of really great bouts between these two guys over recent years. I don't know why, but there must be some sumo chemistry between these two ;-)
