Itachiyama 119 Posted February 22, 2005 (edited) I've stayed at the Dotonbori Hotel during last year's Haru Basho and can recommend this Hotel. I was very pleased. Really nice rooms and two web terminals in the lobby. Walking distance is about 10 to 15 minutes to Osaka Municipal Gymnasium. You go basically in one direction, thus it's not difficult to orientate onself. It's a nice walk through that area. Cheapest room charge is 7800EN (including tax and service) per night (single room of course). But they offered me 5000EN per night because of a long stay (If I remember correctly a long stay is more than 10 continuous days) booked via Internet. Contact them and ask for an offer: http://www.dotonbori-h.co.jp/english/index.html Edited February 22, 2005 by Itachiyama
Itachiyama 119 Posted February 22, 2005 Ok, if you can only stay a couple of days this may be the better choice: http://www.hotel-nankai.co.jp/eng/namba_eng.htm Internet special offer with 7350EN per night for Osaka is certainly not bad. It's on the other side of the Municipal Gymnasium. But there should be a hotel under 7000EN within reach by feet even in that area!

It's on the other side of the Municipal Gymnasium. Sometimes it's not just money as if you really want to find something cheaper you can find a capsule hotel or backpacker place like Sakura in Tokyo but convenience and time. I can highly recommend Nankai Namba for anyone as it's almost right across the venue and it's a hotel run by old Nankai Tetsudo Line, a well established train/real estate/travel concern in Kansai area for long long time. If I am going to Osaka, I wll stay at this place as it's so close and central to everything. Personally being a Tokyo-jin, as much as I love the people and atmosphere, Osaka is a totally alien place to me. I will need someone like Nishi san to lead me along.
