Kashunowaka Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Thanks a lot! The first thing that strikes me is how harshly Takamisakari has been treated. Kaiho at only M4 is another surprise.
Asashosakari Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 (edited) Thanks Itachiyama! (Sign of approval) Kaiho at only M4 is another surprise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is? That's exactly where I had him... I kind of agree about Sakari, but I should have seen that one coming, I guess...as I keep saying, 7-8 gets treated very leniently of late. (Whistling...) Kokkai (M4e, 9-6) - M2 - Tochinonada (M4w, 8-7) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, Kokkai and Tochinonada are where they belong. There was no other place for this two! If you guessed the Banzuke you should have recognized it. Tochinonada was only more lucky than Kokkai because of the results of the others.

Itachiyama Posted April 25, 2005 Author Posted April 25, 2005 For those who are interested in the whole Banzuke and don't want to wait for the Kyokai's page being updated: http://homepage3.nifty.com/izutsurm/17%94N/17-05/rank.html
Fukurou Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 IIRC, KOTORYU and ASANOWAKA have announced their retirements, yet both appear on the new banzuke (at J8E and Ms3W, respectively). Am I correct in thinking that this is because they retired after the banzuke was finished (and the NSK didn't want to go back and adjust the rankings)?
Tadanisakari Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 IIRC, KOTORYU and ASANOWAKA have announced their retirements, yet both appear on the new banzuke (at J8E and Ms3W, respectively). Am I correct in thinking that this is because they retired after the banzuke was finished (and the NSK didn't want to go back and adjust the rankings)? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, you are correct. If you told the gyoji in charge of making the banzuke that he had to re-do the precise, beautiful Japanese calligraphy all the way down to Jonokuchi, you'd have one unhappy dude in pajamas and an eboshi. (Whistling...) Removing a single person near the top or middle of the banzuke actually has a ripple effect all the way down to the young upstarts in Jonokuchi, so it's pretty unfeasible to take Kotoryu and Asanowaka off this late. I'm gonna miss both those guys.. (Annoyed...)
Zentoryu Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 IIRC, KOTORYU and ASANOWAKA have announced their retirements, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was it ever actually established that Asanowaka did indeed retire? There was a great deal of confusion over this a few weeks ago. (The whole "did he or didn't he?" thread).
Senpai Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 How high could Bart raise if he would have ideal basho from Ms22? (Whistling...)

Fujisan Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Thanks Itachiyama! (Sign of approval) Kaiho at only M4 is another surprise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is? That's exactly where I had him... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had him higher than that (Whistling...) What will surprise me is if hes still there next time. (Sign of disapproval)
Ryukaze Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 (edited) Looks like we can count on a match between Asashoryu and "Roho" this next basho that should be interesting (ROho is just so strong I can't imagine even the Yokozuna just bulldozing right through him...) My boy "Kaiho" is rather high hope he can do well. Good to see Katayama in Makuuchi hopefully he will be here to stay, and of course I would like to see Toki go 0-15 (that wussy! lol)- Edited April 25, 2005 by Ryukaze
aderechelsea Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 i just hope Kaiho will fave Asashoryu and Kaio... don't care how he wins both of these matches but be sure he WILL get them. :-S He will end up with 1 Kinboshi, 1 Ginboshi and a 5-10 record ....
Kashunowaka Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 K Kotomitsuki (M2, 9-6) Wakanosato (M1, 8-7) M1 Tamanoshima (M7, 12-3) - And then we have the komusubi west slot. - 12-3 for Tamanoshima should be good enough, don't you think? - Yes, and Wakanosato gets a half rank promotion. - No, I have a better idea! Imagine the quandary for hundreds of sumo gamers if we instead promote Wakanosato to komusubi together with Mickey! - Two of the most popular picks at the same rank - brilliant! - Zippy, you are a genius! I can hear them grinding their teeth already! Mwahahaha ... Eeny meeny miney moe ...
Jejima Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Looks like we can count on a match between Asashoryu and "Roho" this next basho that should be interesting (ROho is just so strong I can't imagine even the Yokozuna just bulldozing right through him...) Let me try.... B-) I can imagine the Yokozuna bulldozing right through him (or any other rikishi you'd care to mention)....l (Running over the other guy...)
Kasugaran Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 i just hope Kaiho will fave Asashoryu and Kaio...don't care how he wins both of these matches but be sure he WILL get them. (Nodding yes...) He will end up with 1 Kinboshi, 1 Ginboshi and a 5-10 record .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dreams are free φίλο μου .... At least Chelsea are winning for you! (Holiday feeling...)
aderechelsea Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 i have no complaints for Kaiho either ... last basho's 11 wins was as rare as chelsea's league championships in the last 100 years. this will change from now on for Chelsea but i doubt it will for Kaiho too. a second kinboshi is all i ask from this guy.
Kaiowaka Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 i just hope Kaiho will fave Asashoryu and Kaio...don't care how he wins both of these matches but be sure he WILL get them. :-) He will end up with 1 Kinboshi, 1 Ginboshi and a 5-10 record .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, Kaiho is going to win against Asashoryu and against Chiyotaikai ....................! For the rest, it is OK! 5-10, 1 kinboshi and 1 Ginboshi ! 3 others, it is against Miyabiyama, Wakanosato and Kokkai !!!!! :-P :-P :-(
