sumogames.com problems

Recommended Posts

Unless Kofuji suddenly shows up over the next few days (many of us have our fingers crossed that he will), it looks like we have a serious problem for the games that run on the sumogames.com server.

Bench Sumo could probably get by, but it would take a massive effort from all the people involved in that game, and we may have waited a bit too long to get that effort underway. ;-)

If the rest of you who run games off this server have a contingency plan, I suggest you not wait any longer and go to them.

I hope that some games can be saved this basho. (Nervous...)

ISP in in trouble too, unless Dale agrees to run it like he used to just this once..The others seem ok.

BTW, how's my new look?

Well, Sekitori-Toto would have to take the basho off if Kofuji does not miraculously return.  The game's gotten too big to run manually on a daily basis, especially without the broad volunteer support base Bench Sumo enjoys (mind you, there are now more ranked participants in Sekitoto than in all but one other game... unbelievable growth...)

I have pretty much resigned myself to seeing Sekitoto take a basho off... one of the reasons I decided to implement Sekitori-Oracle already this basho... so be sure to play that, y'all! :)

Still hoping for a last-minute rescue, though...

Cheers

What would be needed technically? I might be able to run some scripts on the sumoforum.net server if needed.

Enjoy that new one !

And here's solution for those who have lost their nerves trying to remember guys' weights and swapping them back and forth. (Laughing...)

It's easy, since you have the weight of both sides of balance written, so you can 'weigh' rikishi by rikishi to find out their true weight, and then apply some maths. You also know the sum weight, and the goal weight on both sides of scale is half of that...

It would be *much* harder without those numbers, with just differential weight between scales... ;)

Good idea, though, and crazy sumo games are always welcome!

Yes, but that would require you to be able to count further than ten and to remember large numbers longer than few seconds. Both of these tasks aren't easy to some of us.

Sad part here is that I'm not completely joking. I'm a bit stupid in these kind of things. I never even realized there could be some other solution than by trying to remember the size of a given guy. (I am with stupid...)

The jolly part is that Hoshifransu-zeki keeps on finding new stuff or even creating his own. :-9
