Obligatory "How'd You Do?" Thread

Recommended Posts

Mixed results for me, but I did make some minor breakthroughs in my game results during Nagoya. Or at least put a halt to some long MK streaks...

Hoshitori Game - After being as low as 1-14 and 4-11 as late as Day 13, I managed to pull up to an 8-7 (tie 82nd pl) on the final day, and will rise from J1 to M8 on the banzuke. The last time I finished KK was Kyushu (November) 2004, and the last one before that was Hatsu (January) 2003. (Applauding...)

Sekitori-Toto - The daily scoring on this game must have been really weird. I ended up 10-5 (26th pl), even though I got wins on days that don't usually result in wins (such as on Day 13, when I was 16-16 for the day and still won). I'm sure finishing with the 8th highest total risk factor (Kanto-sho) had a lot to do with it. A likely promotion from Ms30E. Last KK for me in this game was Nagoya 2004. (Applauding...)

UDH - I actually hung around the top the entire tournament this time, finishing 12-3 (26th pl) and going from J10 to M4 in the banzuke. This is another game I don't have a great history in (0-15 four times, 1-14 twice), having been KK only one other time, that for Nagoya 2003. (I am not worthy...)

Chain Gang - What can I say? I was one of the many caught up in the Day 1 carnage... (Applauding...)

ISP - After starting 0-6, I finished 6-9. Down we go from J5E. I tend to yo-yo KK-MK in this game, and was KK in May. Hoping to go KK again in September. (Clapping wildly...)

Rotosumo - Finished 3-12, next to last in Juryo. I was J2W, but that's certainly going to change. (Applauding...)

My best effort was in the Juryo game- second best overall but only a jun-yusho in makuuchi since the best was in my division. This is my best game and I feel I justified my Ozeki rank in it this time.

I seem to be number 5 or so in the new Makushita game though the scoring and ranking system is still under discussion.

Near the top but losing ground to the leader in Banzuke surfing - I had Kageyama this time and he lost his last bout to Jonidan winner Nakanishi to finish 6-1. Oshirokita's Sawai has launched him even further ahead of me - that was my ride last time so I couldn't have matched that pick. *sigh*

12 wins in Guess the Yusho Winners (Oshirokita's own game and he took control of it this time!) not far from the top but not jun-yusho territory either.

Salarycap Sumo - 3rd straight makekoshi - I am hopeless at this one! It's kind of fun to play but the fans are getting sick of watching me stink up the dohyo!

Benchsumo - only 9 wins but I was in yusho contention up until the last day. The winner got his 11th win as I lost - reverse that and there would have been a playoff between us.

And finally Sekitoto - 10 wins despite a 1-5 run in the middle of the tournament. I think I'm ranked komusubi in this one and 10 may not be enough to make any move upwards since there is a bit of a logjam in sanyaku in this game.

No new baby yet but it can't be long. Time to settle on some names...

The game results weren't bad but not really that good either with one exception. I'll just mention the Super Banzuke Masters points earning results:

Sumo Game: That's the exception, I won Makuuchi yusho in a close tie-break with Boltono. My first yusho here after four jun-yusho. A good start into my second Ozeki period, especially after the 0-2 beginning. Also most points in all divisions, tied with Boltono.

Bench Sumo: 9-6, tied 5th in Makuuchi. Also most points in Makuuchi (at least, can't check now), tied with Gernobono. Unusual feeling to lose to someone because of lower rank...

Fantasy Sumo: Tied 4th of 213 players. I don't know why I'm doing so good in this game. Banzuke W-L record is 11-4.

RotoSumo: Also gets some Masters points, 8th in Makuuchi thanks to a good finish from Kasugao, Tochisakae.

Well, this was it already this time. Only four games with Masters points this time compared to six or seven in the last four basho, but hey, a yusho in Sumo Game is always a good compensation.

Oh, and then I had top 20 finish in UDH and Hoshitori and should be in a Yokozuna run in both games, needing a 13-2 or 12-3 respectively next basho. Something to look forward in Aki.

Yoso 8-7 (Applauding...)

Sekitori toto 7-8 My first MK in 6 basho. :'-(

Bench - plummet down the banzuke at 4-11. (Enjoying a beer...)

ISP - mk on the last day after a decent start, mostly to be blamed on me playing with my (Heart) instead of my brains.

CG - out on day 3... not too awful.

Hoshitori - 13-2, and in yusho contention for a while! Woo-hoo!

UDH - 7-8, not terrible.

Juryo - 7-8, see above

Kumi - below mk line, again... (Depressed...)

Cibersumo - awaiting final results.

And that would be it.

With a few exceptions, not my most stellar basho ever, that's for sure.

Pre-basho:

GTB: 4th, my highest-ever finish. No complaints here. (Clapping wildly...)

Hoshitori: Absolute disaster, 2-13.

UDH: Given that I expected this one to go 2-13 as well when Futeno kept winning, I'm very happy with my 9-6. (Clapping wildly...)

Rotosumo: The Makushita bounce continues, this time with a 3-4 (first player below the mean! (Censored)). I'm not even sure why it's so bad, considering the only pick that really let me down was Tamanoshima...

Seki-Oracle: After two consecutive 7-8's, this time a 9-6. Might even be good enough for a return to sanyaku. (Clapping wildly...)

Salarycap: 20th in Makushita, and my best-ever record at 9-6, too. (Enjoying a beer...)

PTYW: Jun-yusho again, albeit much more decisively this time than back in Kyushu. One of these days I'm going to win this game... (Clapping wildly...)

Banzuke Surfing: That's it, I'm going to quit picking Towanoyama.

Makushita Game: Just as bad as almost everybody else did. (Clapping wildly...)

Dailies:

Chaingang: Out on Day 1, as always these days.

Sekitoto: Blergh! 5-10, my worst-ever result. Now 2 MK in 3 games this year, and given how the banzuke works here, I'm probably back in Juryo now. :-)

Seki-Quad: The usual end-of-basho collapse was there as always, but I did finish with my 4th consecutive 9-6 thanks to an 8-2 start. Really happy about this one. (Sign of approval)

I did NOT do well. There was only one that I was truly happy about, and that was the 10-5 in my own game, my first KK in 9 bashos.

Pre-Basho games:

Juryo game: 8-7

Sekitori-Oracle: 7-8

UDH: 3-12, with a HUGE last day, I had been consistently 1-14 up to this point.

Roto Sumo: 6-9, hope I can stay in Makuuchi

Hoshitori: 8-7, barely.

Salarycap: 10-5, my best this basho.

Dailies:

Bench Sumo: 8-7, after a 5-1 start.

ISP: Horrible 5-10.

S4: 4-10-1

Seki-toto: 3-11-1

Sumo game: 3-12.

So all in all, a horrid basho, with only 5 KK.

bad basho for me and a lot of Kyujo due to summer vacations ...

the two daily games i played was:

Chaingang: out in day 1 thanks to Kasugao

Sekitori Quadrumvirate (my favourite game): 7-8 after a 1-5 start ..

the pre-basho ones were:

Salary cap: 5-10 with 1368 points thanks to Tosanoumi, Katayama, Kisenosato,Tochisakae and Kotoshogiku .... (Enjoying a beer...)

Guess the banzuke: 8-7 with 60 points

Roto-sumo: 2-5 in jonokuchi ....... and keep falling

Sekitori Oracle: 9-6 and 546 points

banzuke surfing: 5-2 with Towanoyama so another rise ...

Overall pretty good, without any spectacular results and only few results that I'm unhappy about.

Banzuke-wise after finally working my way up in quite a few games, missing deadlines the last couple of Bashos have cost me dearly (Being unsure...)

Chaingang: Out on day 1

ISP 7-8. A lot of tough bouts this time!

SekitoriToto: I'm happy with 9-6

S4: Rapidly becoming my favorite game and 9-6 is my third good score in a row! (I am not worthy...)

Hoshitori: When first starting playing this game I made so many mistakes but lately I think I know what I've been doing. 10-5 this Basho and 12-3 last time I participated (Shaking head...)

Kumi: 11-4 and 2nd place in Juryo (Sign of approval)

UDH: I still don't think my lineup looks that bad but the result is a complete disaster at 1-14. I thought the likes of Futenho and Ishide would struggle....

Roto: 4-3 but after missed deadlines im way down the Banzuke..

Gisp: 9-6

Juryo game: 12th place in Makushita. 104 points and 4-3

Bench: A very messy 6-9 that I'm very unhappy about.

Yoso 10-5

Banzai 6-9 (Is it just me or has this game become/turned into one where taking chances is something that you just cannot afford?)

SalaryCap 11-4 (Being unsure...)

Here are my results, in no particular order:

Sumo Fan Magazine Trivia Contest - 1st Place, 15-0 Thanks to all the fine websites that provided all the answers (after a lot of looking).

CIBERSUMO - BATMAN Beya finished in 92nd place, with 42 points. My worst basho ever!

Fantasy Sumo - 205th of 213. My worst basho ever!

Guess the Kotomitsuki - Not even close. Put way too much faith in Koto.

Pick the Yusho Winner - 4-11. About par for me in this game.

Juryo Game - 3-4 in Jonokuchi. I may never get out of Jonokuchi division in this one. Was in the top 3 during the first week, then faded.

GISP - 0-15, 119th place of 119. My worst basho ever. (Do you see the theme here?)

RotoSumo - ms15E, finished 8th from the bottom in Makushita (1154 points). Should remain in Makushita, but near the bottom. Probably my worst basho ever!

Salary Cap Sumo - M17E, 5-10 record. Down to Juryo for the first time in this game. My worst....you know the dea!

Hoshitori - M15, 0-15 record. Down to J1.

UDH - M11, 3-12 record. Down to J1.

Bench Sumo - ms23w, 4-11. Back down to Sandanme, again!

Internet Sumo Pool - 8-7. First KK in ISP in I don't remember how long.

SekitoriQuadrumvirate - ms15e, 6-9. Small slide down the banzuke.

Sumo Game - ms19E, 6-9. Another small slide down the banzuke.

Chain Gang - Out on Day 1, as usual.

Paper Oyakata - ms34W, 3-12. Only my second time playing this, but I sucked just as bad at this as the others.

Banzuke Surfing - 1st time playing, 31.(42.) jk41w Chiyonishiki 6-1 jd70w. I got lucky.

Makushita Game - Scoring still being discussed, but I did pretty well for the first time out.

I think that gets them all. Tochinonada's kyujo hurt me. Other than that, I just suck at this. But, it sure was fun.

Actually, as you were ranked in Makushita your score is out of 7 so that equals 4W-3L. Congratulations, you will now be promoted to Juryo for next basho.

>Nishinoshima

So I feel 8win in ST is not Kachi-koshi as 2 reasons.

Reason 1

Everyday about half of players win,not just half.

Because some player absence(0-33).

So winner is more than loser.

Reason 2

Fusensho(win by default) is effective.

It turn out about 12:00JST,just before deadline.

I can change select Fusensho almost every day.

But many player select "Fusenpai".

I think the time is at midnight or early morning in Europe.

*I request "Fusensho" is not effective.

Because I think the effort is not essential for guess.

Exactly. It is very easy to eliminate fusen bouts in Sekitoto. You have to ask Zenjimoto why he wouldn't do it.

While I am at it, Sumo Game is another game where it would be easy to eliminate fusen bouts (every player gets them at the top by default) and where it isn't done.

Bench Sumo is different, you can't have a general consensus because the game is based on a pre-selection of ten rikishi. But of course fusen winners could be put to the top of the lineup by default as fusen losers are set to last bench already.

In S4 time zone advantages due to fusen bouts could be eliminated too with a rule which states that fusen winners which are eligible (not yet chosen) get on the team by default, dismissing e.g. the lowest ranked rikishi (or the rikishi with the highest number of wins, to improve the tie-breaker).

Thank you for reply.

Last year I asked Amanogawa who speak English well.

Why don't Zenjimoto do it.

She asked Zenjimoto.

The answer was he has his policy.

The check of Kyujyo(absence) is a fact of guess.

"guess" means thinking win or lose, true or false.

Not means early morning check.

I think.

So here go my scores...

I played a total of 16 games, 6 of them daily and 10 pre-basho.

Bench Sumo

10-5 at Sd20w: a second kachi-koshi in a row in my third basho!

Sumo Game

10-5 at Ms44w: my biggest kachi-koshi in my fifth basho and highest rank in the game!

Chain Gang

Got to the fifth day of the tournament, which is good performance in my standards...

Sekitori-Toto

10-3-2 at my highest position on the banzuke so far (Ms13w) and in my fifth basho. How many more basho until juryo?

Sekitori-Quadrumvirate

8-5-2 at my highest postion on the banzuke so far (Ms17w) and getting my third consecutive kachi-koshi in my seventh basho.

ISP

6-9 at Ms8e and (I believe) my first makekoshi in this game so far...

Totoro's Hoshitori

A return to winning ways with a 10-5 at M6 after last basho's failure and a promotion to M1. Next basho will show whether I will be going back to the sanyaku.

UDH

A 9-6 means climbing from M5 to M1 and a promising position for a return to sanyaku.

Sekitori-Oracle

A simple 8-7 kachi-koshi, but still a kachi-koshi at Ms33e.

RotoSumo

Another simple kachi-koshi, 4-3 this time at Ms24w in my fourth basho in this game and still have not suffered a make-koshi!

GISP

Oops! A big make-koshi of 5-10 here, but I will be back stronger next basho!

Salarycap Sumo

A small make-koshi is still a make-koshi: 7-8 at Ms30w.

Fantasy Sumo

Finished sixth at J2 in one of my best games, but the win-loss records still don't seem to be out. Nevertheless, should be in Makuuchi from next basho!

Otherwise, got a nice 10-5 in my third attempt to guess the banzuke, guess Mickey's record wrong (9-6), but my second attempt at Banzuke Surfing was better with the rookie Takahashi's Jonokuchi yusho! Will see how far up the banzuke this shoots him (me).

And this is for now, I hope you all have a great August, rest well, and come back stronger for the Aki games!

All games are Pre-Basho....

Ciber-Sumo One 5-2, two 4-3's and 17th place overall. Not bad at all considering the Kyujo situation.

Juryo Game The last 8-7 in the Juryo division, inspite of having picked Tochinohana as the Yusho winner. (What in the world possessed me to do that?) (Blinking...)

Pick the Yusho Winners 6-1, but not at all satisfied with my performance. Some really bad picks were made and I was left with the feeling of having not done as well as I felt I could have.

Banzuke Surfing My pick Tochifudo went 6-1 from the tail end of Sandanme and that should be enough to keep me in second place.

RotoSumo 10-5 in my first basho in Makuuchi since Hatsu 2004, which means I'll be at my highest rank ever in this game next basho. (Applauding...) Always feels good to do well in the game you invented. (Blushing...)

Kumi This was the big one. 14-1 and the Makuuchi Yusho! This was my third Yusho in this game. When I first started playing this game, I never thought it would become the one in which I experienced my greatest level of gaming success. Just goes to show that one never knows. (Blushing...) (Clapping wildly...) (First prize...)

Well, I think that's it.

Overall a pretty good basho in what is rapidly becoming my best year ever as far as the sumo games are concerned.
