Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted August 31, 2005 (edited) This is to invite you for another round of the Makushita Game. Here are the rules: 1) Divide the Makushita division into 15 blocks of equal size, consisting of 8 rikishi per block. 2) Name one rikishi out of each block who you think will be the most successful. 3) Send the list with 15 names to me via e-mail Scoring Method: Under the current scoring system you will get the following "win points" per rikishi: 0 win points if the final record of a rikishi is between 0-7 and 3-4 0.5 win points if the final record is 4-3 1 win point if the final record is 5-2 1.5 win points if the final record is 6-1 2 win points if the final record is 7-0. To compute your final win-loss record, the win points of your 15 rikishi will be summed up. Win-loss records with half numbers are rounded up. Deadline is shonichi 6 AM JST. Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) Here are the Standings after the first bout per rikishi. The third column gives a projection of the final standings based on the simple idea that each rikishi would win 50% of his remaining bouts. That is, if one of your rikishi is currently 1-0, the expected final standings for him would be 4-3 - and this in turn would add 0.5 wins to your tally. If a rikishi is currently at 0-1, the expected final standing would be 3-4 (0 wins for you). Don't be shocked with the low values. After one or two bouts there will be quite an underestimation of the real standings, before a more adequate estimation kicks in. 1 Kintamayama 5-10 2 Asashosakari 5-10 2 Takamueda 5-10 4 Doitsuyama 4-11 4 Itachi 4-11 4 Susanoo 4-11 7 Randomitsuki 4-11 7 sashimaru 4-11 7 Tamanaogijima 4-11 10 Zenjimoto 3-12 11 Senpai 3-12 12 Azumaryu 3-12 12 Feginowaka 3-12 12 Torideyama 3-12 12 Usagi 3-12 12 Yubiquitoyama 3-12 17 Flohru 2-13 17 Sakana 2-13 17 sekihiryu 2-13 17 wolfgangho 2-13 21 Tomoe 2-13 Edited September 12, 2005 by Randomitsuki
Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 14, 2005 Standings after Day 4: Kintamayama is the first one to enter kachi-koshi territory, that looks like very good scoring in the end - 8 of his 15 picks are currently at 2-0, six others are at 1-1, and only one rikishi of his squad is 0-2. 1 Kintamayama 8-7 2 Asashosakari 6-9 3 Itachi 6-9 3 Susanoo 6-9 3 Usagi 6-9 6 Doitsuyama 5-10 6 Senpai 5-10 8 sashimaru 5-10 9 sekihiryu 5-10 9 Takamueda 5-10 9 Tamanaogijima 5-10 9 Zenjimoto 5-10 13 Azumaryu 5-10 13 Feginowaka 5-10 13 Randomitsuki 5-10 13 Yubiquitoyama 5-10 17 Flohru 4-11 17 Tomoe 4-11 17 Torideyama 4-11 17 wolfgangho 4-11 21 Sakana 3-
Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 16, 2005 After 6 days: OK, either our rikishi win and propel our scores upwards, or we are facing a banzuke problem (again). After three bouts per rikishi Kintamayama is still the only one to linger in kachi-koshi land. Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 19, 2005 After day 9: The make-koshi count moves up to four. While Kintamayama has a good shot at finishing in double digits, Asashosakari, Itachi, and Doitsuyama have crossed the line of doom. Five players at 7-8 can still hope for getting KK, while it will become difficult for the rest of us. 1 Kintamayama 10-5 2 Asashosakari 8-7 3 Itachi 8-7 4 Doitsuyama 8-7 5 Susanoo 7-8 6 Azumaryu 7-8 6 Feginowaka 7-8 6 sashimaru 7-8 6 Tamanaogijima 7-8 10 Randomitsuki 6-9 10 Takamueda 6-9 12 sekihiryu 6-9 12 Yubiquitoyama 6-9 14 Usagi 6-9 14 Zenjimoto 6-9 16 Flohru 5-10 17 Tomoe 4-11 18 Senpai 4-11 18 wolfgangho 4-11 20 Sakana 4-11 20 Torideyama 4-

Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 23, 2005 After Day 13: Doitsuyama overtook Kintamayama. Doitsuyama 1,192 Posted September 24, 2005 After day 14 I am behind Kintamayama, 10.5 with three to go against 11.0 with two to go. I don't know about Tamanaogijima, but those are the senshuraku bouts for me: Sd3e Satsumanishiki (4-2) vs. Ms60w Daiyuchi (4-2) Ms46e Toshinyama (4-2) vs. Ms53w Kasugakuni (4-2) Ms13e Hokutoiwa (4-2) vs. Ms16e Isobe (4-2) And for Kintamayama: Ms54e Furuichi (5-1) vs. Ms50w Kagaya (5-1) Ms8w Mokonami (5-1) vs. Ms6w Takamifuji (5-1) I guess Kintamayama's bouts have more excitement value, but also very difficult opponents, so I maybe stand a chance to catch him. That's true sportsmanship! I currently have you at 11.5 --> 12-3 (Kintamayama) vs. 11.25 --> 11-4 (Doitsuyama), but this is just the result of extrapolating 0.25 for each remaining bout. Randomitsuki 2,843 Posted September 25, 2005 Final Standings Aki Basho: Kintamayama gets the yusho, Doitsuyama gets the jun-yusho, and Asashosakari and Tamanaogijima are tied for third place. Scoring was well-balanced, so I hope that we can continue with this scoring method. A banzuke will be created after two basho. The question is: do we count the Nagoya Basho as the first one? I think it wouldn't be fair to completely discount that basho, although the scoring method was different. However, some suggested to create a banzuke after Kyushu based on Aki and Kyushu results.
