Light Festival in My Locker

f6e77bc7ba94a6e83fe77165dc5665.jpg

Good evening. This is Ikeda.

Christmas is over and everywhere the lights have disappeared from the streets.

Amid all of that, there is a place at Tamanoi Beya that that has got things somewhat confused . . .

The picture above is of my locker. I guess I was influenced by the illuminations all over town

and did this. (Laugh) First, I adjusted all the light bulbs. Then, when I collected

all the different lights, the circuit went a bit out of whack.

It ended up way past Christmas into something like Disco.

Well, at this point, maybe it is better that it

Only 2 days left for this year!

Looks like 2005 is about to end.

At Tamanoi Beya, we held our last keiko today, the 30th, and

most of the rikishi left for home in the afternoon.

The photo above shows a scene from the mochi-tsuki held on the 28th.

For the traditional

Tamanoi-oyakata's dying from laughter in that sedond photo... wonder how he manages to pund the mochi in such condition. (Help me...)

Thanks for all this, madorosumaru.

Happy New year! (Cheers...)

The atmospehre described at this blog is nothing like in the sumobeyas I have visited. Although they are low on banzuke, they do seem to have a lot of fun. Apart from the factors in Sasanishiki's analysis, the oyakata must be a nice guy. How many other oyakata's would tolerate Amanowaka's excentricities? The only sekitori doesn't seem to mind either.

o he is out of hospital and I suppose he is taking it easy a bit but can someone who had experienced this type of illness come back so quickly (after all it is a type of stroke I believe). Isn't it possible that he could suffer a blow to his head and could seriously jeopardize his life?

I don't think blows to head have any significance in this but stroke happens for some reason and atherosclerosis can be present. If his stroke was more like hemorrage like Sharon had (obviously not as bad..), then I guess he may have had some weakness in the blood vessels there or just bad luck since he is so young. In any case, I don't think blows to head have any significance in this in the long run.

Yeah, but I'm sure you get none of that in the papers in Israel (Thinking in depth...)

As matter of fact, Sharon Stone did suffer a stroke a few years ago.

Stone Suffers Apparent Aneurysm

October 3, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Doctors know more about the condition of Sharon Stone, who has been hospitalized for the past several days after suffering from a severe headache.

Tests show that the 43-year-old actress suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding into the space between the brain and the middle membrane covering the brain, publicist Cindi Berger said Tuesday.

From BBC news (May 15, 2002):

Hollywood actress Sharon Stone made one of her first public appearances since she suffered a stroke.

Wasabi Ice Cream (Wasabi Aisu)

Sushi gets its sting from the horseradish paste known in Japanese as wasabi. While its tingling taste makes a delightful addition to raw fish, wasabi's tangy flavor also makes for a surprisingly edible ice cream.

Check out the exotic ice cream, including cactus, chicken wing, and octopus.

Before you start laughing at the Nihonjin, we, in America, have "garlic ice cream," made famous by the renowned Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California.

'Garlic ice cream is really good!' Garlic has Americans clamoring for cloves to add sizzle to supper - or to cure what ails us. From Smithsonian Magazine, Vol 26 number 9.

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!! Believe it or not, it is excellent. (Bow...) (Laughing...) I can do without the garlic fudge that they also sell in Gilroy.
