Kaio:

Carrying on with a bad back is an inspiration to myself and to all with chronic back problems around the world. We all look up to you as our role model of what can be accomplished if we REFUSE to give in!

Some may have tried to throw a shovel of dirt on your grave prematurely. Some days

we compromise with our ailment, other days we overcome it. All of us are confident in your ability to overcome this and show them the true power of the "Kaionage!"

On to victory, brave warrior! (Clapping wildly...)

Dear Kaio,

you have being an inspiration to me by your fighting spirit and dignity, since I started to follow Ozumo long time ago. You have given us many great and unforgettable moments of really good sumo, and we would like to enjoy more of it!

I know you are at the moment struggling with pain, but the way you handle it encourages me to deal with mine, going on and doing the best I can. Hardships are here for to be defeated.

We keep our fingers crossed for you as always, watching the live translation through Internet. Please count on our warm support and fervent cheers! :)

Kaio - your fans have complete trust in you. I'm sure that you can get Kachikoshi this basho, and I'd love to see you holding the emperor's cup again - in May, maybe ?

Thank you very much

Each message was send to Kaio* and are now on the Tomozuna beya web site !

A message from the Tomozuna Beya :

"Tomozuna-beya thanks for your support for Kaio. It is wonderful to have cheers from overseas, which encourage the heya and Kaio as well"

(* I don't think that Kaio have really time to read the messages but he knows that from "overseas" many fans send encouragements to him !)

The new messages from yesterday will be send today .. and hope that you will write others messages to him...

I don't know of any ozeki as beloved by so many and provided so much inspiration to so many since Ozeki Takanohana. It's been a real priviledge to follow your career and hope it can keep going a little longer.

/just a sidenote/

I'd like to believe, that Kaio *had* the time to read our messages, considering today's bout vs. Zuma... (Hugging...)

Kaio,

You've been my favorite rikishi since I started watching sumo a couple years ago, and I'm still rooting for you now. I hope a rikishi as great as you can stay in sumo as long as possible!

Kaio-san,

Please, be kind with Hakuho on Sunday. (Sigh...)

(Seriously, he shouldn't retire. As the fans could witness still lots of juice left in him)

Kaoi,

Retire now. Walk away and never return. There are some soap operas that should be cancelled long before the final cut. This is only one of those.

Ganbatte Kaio-zeki,

I hope Kaio earns his kachikoshi and then retires on a successful note.

He has been a great Ozeki when healthy and often a good Ozeki even when not healthy. Though he has been kadoban many times, it could never be said that the quality of his sumo was diminished, only that he ailments were limiting his actions.

He is known for his great strength and stability both physically and emotionally. I think he will make a fine oyakata if he wishes to pursue it.

Also, I am glad he did not reach Yokozuna because I would rather remember him as a great Ozeki than as an weak Yokozuna (such as the most recent Wakanohana who was a great Ozeki).
